DTN based Management Framework for Green On/Off Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
The increasing cost of powering high performance networking infrastructure has led to the proposal of various energy saving schemes. The On/Off technique, being the most common energy saving scheme, consists of powering down partially or entirely a network infrastructure for energy saving purposes. Despite their capability to achieve great energy savings, On/Off networks experience high packet-loss rates due to the absence of reliability on packet delivery. Moreover, they cannot guarantee any response time to user applications. This paper presents the design and implementation of MFO2N; Experimental results show a correlation between offered quality of service and overall network power consumption, revealing that a tradeoff should be made.

Developing A New Operation-Economic Framework for Irrigation Networks without Water Market
This study focused on proposing a new operational perspective within main and lateral irrigation canals based on the economic value of water. To achieve this objective, the operation-economic framework offered in this study consisted of two main components of the PMP model and Operation model. The estimated economic values of water in different regions of the network were employed as the starti...
متن کاملRouting Framework for Delay Tolerant Networks using BayesiaLab
Routing in delay tolerant networks (DTN) can benefit from the fact that most real life DTN, especially in the context of people-centric networks (e.g. Pocket Switching Networks (PSN)), exhibit some sort of periodicity in their mobility patterns. For example, public transportation networks follow periodic schedules. Even most individuals have fairly repetitive movement patterns, for example, dri...
متن کاملOrganizational Learning and Knowledge Spillover in Innovation Networks: Agent-Based Approach (Extending SKIN Framework)
In knowledge-based economy, knowledge has a public good and non-rivalry nature. Firms build their own knowledge stock not only by means of internal R&D and collaboration with partners, but also by means of previously spilled over knowledge of other firms and public research laboratories (such as universities). Firms based on their absorptive capacity, and level of intra-industry and extra-indus...
متن کاملEnergy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks
Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...
متن کاملData or index: a trade-off in mobile delay tolerant networks
Acquiring content through mobile networks is a basic and general topic. Mobile nodes have two different ways of obtaining data. The first method is to download data quickly through 3G/4G networks, which is expensive. The second way is to get data from other nodes by means of delay tolerant networks (DTN), which are much cheaper, but are time-consuming. Throwboxes deployed in DTN act as fixed fe...
